This Saturday Shanti Kaur Khalsa from Espanola, New Mexico came to MPA and gave a yoga class. She spoke a lot about Guru Gobind Singh, his life, his teachings and the technology he gave us. We learned that although mostly people know the tenth guru as the great warrior he was, he was also a great poet and scholar. He mastered seven languages and used them all in the bani he wrote.

Shanti also related some stories from her days as one of Yogi Bhajan’s body guards. A relatively small woman who looks so graceful telling us all these things about being a body guard, and yet you hear her speak and there’s no doubt she was fit for the task. It’s inspiring to see someone who may not exactly fit a certain profile and yet it doesn’t stop them from doing it.

Sat Nam Surinder. I’m not sure. I looked but couldn’t really get a good read on the face. I’m sure he’ll show up in the pictures soon.
