After growing up immersed in the study of Kundalini Yoga in India, the Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan came to the United States and taught his first public class on January 5th, 1969. He was determined to train leaders and teachers with the power to heal, uplift, and inspire humanity. Yogi Bhajan said, “I’ve come to train teachers, not to get disciples.” In July of 1969, Yogi Bhajan legally established the 3HO® Foundation, with “3HO” standing for Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization. He didn’t just teach physical exercise, meditation, and yogic breathing techniques as such, he taught people how to live, how to relate to each other, and how to relate to God. The 3HO way of life offered an alternative to the drug culture prevalent among young people at the time.
In 1996 he established Miri Piri Academy, and international boarding school in Amritsar, India, so that the future generations could learn and live a Healthy, Happy, Holy life. At MPA children gather from all over the world to get the experience of immersing themselves in this lifestyle in a community of their peers. It is the only school in the world where students graduate as certified Kundalini Yoga Teachers.
Yogi Bhajan was not interested in one dimensional development, however. The name of the school, Miri Piri, means the balance between the temporal and the spiritual. In addition to spiritual training and discipline, MPA has a rigorous academic program that is accredited by Cambridge International Examinations and students spend an equal period of time on the arts, sports and yes, having fun. They are truly learning to be Healthy, Happy and Holy!
Today Miri Piri Academy graduates around the world are an integral part of the 3HO community. They are teachers, ambassadors, and leaders in more than thirteen countries around the world. Learn more about how you can:
