As we begin a new school year, we induct new teachers to MPA. Our induction program gives both new and returning teachers opportunities to learn innovative methods, strategies and skills for teaching.

This past week, an induction workshop was conducted by Ms. Amanpreet Kaur and Ms. Shalu Deora on expeditionary learning, which is a base of Academics at Miri Piri Academy. Expeditionary Learning is ‘Learning by Doing’ and it places a strong focus on personal responsibility. When students and teachers are engaged in work that is challenging, adventurous and meaningful, learning and achievement flourish. We build teacher’s capacity to ignite each student’s motivation, persistence and compassion to propel growth and success in life.

Teachers got firsthand experience about the structure and elements of expeditionary learning. From the initial immersion to a case study with a  field trip,  the teachers presented their end product in the form of a wonderful Poster and a well scripted and acted Street play where the theme, “Impact of international conflicts on human beings and the environment” was on full display.

During the presentation of learning, guests Ms. Japjeet Khalsa (Head of School), Ms. Kirandeep Kaur (Academic Principal) and Mr. Ramandeep Singh (Admission Head) appreciated the teachers’ efforts and gave constructive and valuable feedback. The new teachers have now experienced Expeditionary Learning at MPA and are looking forward to implementing it in their classroom.
